about
This song came out of a specific wound I've been healing, but it opened my "Grief Bag" of past injuries and scars, and applies to them as well.
I think the theme is one we all carry to greater or lesser degrees, stemming from very intimate, to societal or global hurt.
I hope the pain, and (more importantly) the RESOLVE to move forward, heal and forgive touches you, and that the harmonies (straight from my heart), crack yours open wider, to love and feel more deeply.
lyrics
Can you tell me, please tell me, can you help me understand...
When did this happen, what did I say
Collateral damage, lives on to this day
Unspoken hurt feelings, resentment and pain
Withholding "I'm sorry", with nothing to gain
Open, open, open your heart to me
I will open, open, open my heart to you
I'll be a light in your life, you can be one in mine
I could lift you up, in a hard time
Tryin' to make sense of it all, but I don't comprehend
Standing before you, heart in my hand
I won't give up on you now, stick it out 'til the end
'til the end
Open, open, open your heart to me [I'll be a light in your life]
I will open, open, open my heart to you [you'll be a light in mine]
Life's too short, it's hard enough, don't want this hangin' round our necks, it's a heavy load [...for the things I've done...]
I see the good in you, won't you do the same for me too, that's all I ask
[...don't mean to hurt no one...]
Open, open, open your heart to me [please forgive me, I will love you]
I will open, open, open my heart to you
[please forgive me, I will love you]
Please...
